What is Orthobiologic medicine?
Orthobiologics are substances derived from your own body that can help promote healing in your bones, joints, muscles, and tendons. For example: blood (Platelet Rich Plasma), fat (Micro-fragmented Adipose Tissue), and bone marrow (Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate).
How can Orthobiologics help me?
Orthobiologics are the wave of the future in orthopedic sports medicine. Injuries and conditions once only treatable by invasive surgery can now be treated with less invasive injections.
What is the difference between the various Orthobiologic treatments?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) uses growth factors from your blood to help initiate and accelerate tissue repair. These growth factors are very effective.
Fat contains reparative cells. In fact, your own fat has100-500x more reparative cells than other similar tissues, according to Lipogems, a national, FDA approved company that Dr Darr uses for his fat-only kits.
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) helps to stimulate the body’s natural ability to improve circulation, decrease inflammation and heal injured tissues. BMAC contains Mesenchymal Stem Cells, platelets, growth factors, and cytokines that assist in this process.
Dr Darr performs a variety of procedures that are customized to meet individual needs.
- BMAC with PRP
- BMAC with fat and PRP (Combined Cell Therapy)
- and a Fat only protocol (Lipogems)
As well as other non-orthobiologic, conservative treatments such as:
- ARPwave therapy
- Shockwave therapy
- Laser therapy
- CBD oil
